Igor Myakotin is a documentary filmmaker from the Russian Far East. Born and raised at world's end, he traveled across the globe telling stories through short documentaries and photographs: from Roma orphans in the Balkans to burials at sea and majestic whales in the Atlantic Ocean.

Igor's recent short documentary "Swan Song" was invited to premiere at Big Sky Documentary Film Festival ‘18 and received an award for Outstanding Documentary Filmmaking at the 38th FINE CUTS at The New School in New York City. He worked as a cinematographer on Melody Gilbert's feature documentary "Silicone Soul" (DOC NYC ‘18, THESSALONIKI DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL ‘18) and as a 2nd camera on Melody's previous film called "The Summer Help" about international student workers - mainly from Eastern Europe - in America's summer resorts. Igor is an alumnus of NextDoc, a year-long fellowship that brings together emerging documentary storytellers from diverse backgrounds across the country with award-winning documentary filmmakers to learn, share, and build their skills.

Igor is working on his first feature-length documentary.
