Igor Myakotin is a BAFTA & Peabody-winning filmmaker who produced Queendom, shortlisted for the 97th Academy Award in the Documentary Feature Film category and Welcome to Chechnya shortlisted for the 93rd Academy Award in the Documentary Feature and Visual Effects categories, the first documentary ever shortlisted for Best Visual Effects. He explores the nuance of queer liberation in conservative environments.
Igor is a part of 2025 Berlinale Talents and 2022 Sundance Creative Producing Lab fellow. He served on a Jury at 2025 Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival and was named as one of the “40 Under 40” working in documentary industry by DOC NYC. His films screened at Sundance, Berlinale, BFI London, Palm Springs, Zurich, Athens, CPH:DOX, Camden, True/False, Sydney and other film festivals.
Previously, Igor directed two award-winning shorts and has been awarded a Davis Peace and Diplomacy grant at the International House in NY. He is an alumnus of NextDoc.
